KINESIO-TAPING

How does it work?

The Kinesio Taping method can be used in addition to Osteopathic treatment to further maintain mobility and reduce pain as it continues to provide relief between your treatments. It involves taping over and around muscles in order to assist and give support to the affected area or to prevent over contraction of the muscles.

Kinesio Taping works with four main functions:

  • Pain - Reduces pain by taking pressure of the pain receptors.

  • Lymphatic - Eliminates fluid build up and swelling beneath the skin.

  • Joint - Adjusts mis-alignments to aid connective tissue and muscle function.

  • Muscle - Reconditions abnormal tension and strengthens the muscle.

Benefits of Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping can be used for a wide range of sports injuries, orthopaedic, neuromuscular and neurological conditions. Successful treatments include :

  • Lower back pain

  • Hamstring injuries

  • Shin splints

  • Achilles Tendonitis

  • Knee and ankle injuries

  • Frozen shoulder

  • Tennis elbow

  • Bruising

In addition, it also reduces muscle fatique, inflammation and pain, corrects posture, adjusts joint mis-alignment and protects against further injury.

Kinesio Taping is also effective for lymphoedema and chronic swelling. The tape lifts the skin to form convolutions, which increases the space between the connective tissue and the muscles. This promotes the flow of lymphatic fluid, which in turn helps to reduce associated swelling.
